Orchard to Plate

Update

After discussions with the schools leadership team, we feel it is important to continue to provide the Orchard to Plate program. To support student’s wellbeing, consistency is key, therefore we plan to continue cooking with small changes to cater for Covid safety.

The following extra precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of all students and staff:

  • We are unable to have any parent volunteers in the kitchen, however we are dividing each class into two groups to allow for closer supervision.
  • All food is cooked, no raw salads or ingredients are being used at present.
  • Once cooked, the food is served by only the teaching staff, each child will be given an individual plate or bowl with no sharing platters.
  • The students are now sitting at tables to eat their dishes, this will ensure no sharing of food.

The orchard is a wonderful, calm and fun place to be, spending time in this area is something the students love to do. We hope spending more time in the orchard along with the mindfulness of cooking will provide the students with an exciting and fun aspect to their learning, as well as support their mental health during this uncertain period.
