Principal Appointment process

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you to inform you that the Principal Appointment Process, as per the

“Appointing a Parish Primary School Principal – Procedures for the Archdiocese of

Melbourne” has begun this week.

As, Parish Priest, and in line with the procedures document, I have formed a

Principal Appointment Panel. Their role is to work with me through the specifically

designed process, to represent all stakeholders in our community and, as a team,

discern, with me, who will be the new principal for our wonderful school. The panel

members are:

  • Parish Priest
  • Priest in Charge St Anthony’s – Fr Martin
  • Catholic Education Melbourne Executive Director's Nominee - Mrs Maree
  • Holmes
  • An experienced, current Principal representative – Mrs Christina Ferguson,
  • Principal St Elizabeth’s Catholic Parish Primary School, Noble Park North
  • 2 parent / parish representatives – Anna Adaman and Sid Samuel

This week St Anthony’s Staff and St Anthony’s School Board have offered their

insights into the knowledge, skills and expertise for a new principal for our school.

The Principal Appointment panel will work its way through the various steps of the

process over the coming weeks eg.

  • Panel induction and confidentiality agreement
  • Criteria building
  • Question development
  • Short-listing procedures
  • Referee Checks
  • Interviewing techniques and procedures

The position will be advertised in the weekend Australian newspaper and through the

Catholic Online Mail system this weekend and next.

It is a highly confidential and thorough process that will see a new principal being

appointed to begin the 2021 school year, if all goes to plan. If we need to

re-advertise, this will occur and a new timeline will be drawn up, I will keep you

informed.

May the Holy Spirit guide the Panel’s discernment and enrich our discussions. We

do ask that you and your family pray for the panel and for the right applicants to

apply.

Yours sincerely

Fr Brian Collins

Uniform in Term 4

Now that the shops are open again, please ensure that the correct footwear is worn at school in Term 4. Sports shoes are only to be worn on sports days. Black shoes should be worn on all other days. If you are unable to purchase shoes for another week or so, please make sure that a note accompanies your child to school.

From Karen and Jamil in the Office

Dear Parents and Guardians

I wanted to give you some information around a few changes that may affect you as the school migrates to a new administration and accounting system over the next few weeks.

From the 16 October the school will enter a period of "black out" as we migrate to a new cloud-based accounting and administration system. Essentially what this means is that the office will have no electronic accounting system and for approximately 4 weeks and will be recording all accounting transactions manually until the new system is available .

In this time, the office will not be able to give you an electronic or computerised receipt for any bus or school fees or for any uniform purchases. With this in mind, our preferred method of payment, if possible, is for families to make any fee payments electronically through your internet banking platform (please identify your payments using your account number and last name).

We understand this is not always the preferred method of payment for many families so the office will still be able to take cash and credit card payments but can only provide you with a receipt from our receipt book (with the view to processing the receipt against account balances once ICON is live).

Given we will have no computer system, unfortunately we will not be able to issue any up to date statements, change addresses or telephone numbers, nor accurately provide fee balances at this time. We ask for your patience during this process as there will also be a period of catch up after we are up and running to transfer all transactions from October 16 into the new system. We are confident this will not affect too many of you and we will be up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you - Karen and Jamil

Congratulations

Congratulations also to Summer-Rose in 3/4BA. Summer-Rose's family welcomed a little sister on Thursday named Layla. We had the name wrong in our last edition of the newsletter.

Every day counts  - even during remote learning

Please remember that the roll is marked daily and attendance is a requirement. Remote learning has concluded. Coming to school everyday to learn is an absolute necessity, so is checking in every day online during remote learning.  Our students cannot learn effectively if they have a significant number of days off, or even if they are regular late comers.  Make sure you get behind Every Day Counts!!

Each day of school missed makes a difference, with the effect on learning accumulating over time. From an early age, if children are taught that they need to 'show up' for school and make a commitment, this positive mentality aids academic and career success and brings benefits in adulthood.

TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR POTENTIAL NO CHILD SHOULD MISS MORE THAN 2-3 DAYS OF SCHOOL PER TERM.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the school office on 95460044 by 9.00am.  Alternatively, you can email the school to notify of your child’s absence at  office@sanoblepark.catholic.edu.au, or log the absence via the link on the website.

If we do not receive notification of an absence by 9.30am we are required under regulations to message you at home or work to follow up the absence. Please notify the school of all absences. Please note that prolonged absences without notification will be followed up. Many days absent from school does impact on student learning and programs designed to support students.
