Anchorage House News

This term I have been very heartened to see a sense of camaraderie develop between the boys of all ages. I have observed them looking out for one another, helping each other, being supportive when things are tough, having fun together, apologising when appropriate, warmly welcoming each other back to boarding as well as sharing generously. We are still working on respecting personal space, our rooms, our belongings and the house. We talk about how our words and actions can make others feel. I am encouraging them to stop and think before making choices. Our goal is to make others feel respected and cared for, by acting with consideration and kindness.

Winter sports have commenced with the boys attending football, soccer, golf, hockey and volleyball. They have been diligent with booking their leave on REACH and transport on the bus. Great to see as there is lots for our bus drivers to coordinate. Check your fixtures for up-to-date venue details, byes and changing game days.

The Anchorage boys seem to have caught the fishing bug! The sunny autumn days have seen the boys venture out fishing to Emu Point, Nanarup, Kalgan and King Rivers. Even if they have not caught many fish, they have had lots of fun!

Experimenting with cooking continues to be popular. The boys are particularly fond of choc-chip biscuits, so if you have a recipe send it in and they will give it a go. Darcy has been teaching the boys how to prepare and cook tasty fish he has caught. The art of a yummy toasted sandwich is being refined too.
