Awesome Author: 

On Tuesday 24 May author Elizabeth Kirkby McLeod, a friend of Miss Eyre, came to Western Heights to give an author talk to Room 22 and all of the Middle School classes.

Liz spoke about how to become a writer and how to get ideas for writing stories, giving advice such as: 

1. Be a good listener 

2. Read good books 

3. Change real-life stories 

4. Be interested in the world and how things work. 

Liz had also run a competition to name two characters in her upcoming books, which have just been released. Room 22 entered, and Hannah and PJ won the competition! PJ's entry won the naming of the reporter - Lily Henderson, and Hannah named the dog character Jupiter. Liz gave them a copy of the new book with their character names in it.
