I Feel Like Dancing:

Well not me actually, but our children certainly do. This is the line from a song, so it seemed appropriate.

We know we are heading back to normal when our Sandpit Party is back in action again.

This is the name for the time when children come together at the sandpit- dance stage at lunchtime. There are five groups of children who are present at these times.

  1.  Those who love to dance and just get up on the dance stage and dance for every song.
  2. Those who dance on the dance stage - but only for their favourite songs.
  3. Those who dance on the deck or the steps in front of the stage.
  4. Those who love to watch.
  5. Those who just want to make sandcastles and the like are not even aware of the dancing.

I do love seeing all our different groups enjoying themselves in their own ways. Sometimes it's a challenge finding the new songs they want to listen to, and sometimes the song choices are just totally mystifying. For example, a number of year six children have been requesting the Barney the Purple Dinosaur  "I Love You" song.

Rick Astley is another popular choice for some reason.

Some songs provoke an instantaneous reaction - the clean version of 'Freaks' sees children swarm to the stage. 'Gangnam Style' and the 'Macarena' are hugely popular, as is 'I'm A Gummy Bear' - clearly, it takes all tastes.
