Secondary Report

From the Head of Secondary

It has been a whirlwind start to Term 2 for us all and that hopefully means we are getting back to normal.  Our school community has had a range of activities over the first two weeks including online parent teacher interviews, cross country, da Vinci Decathlon, Foundation day (Happy 18th Birthday!) and the Year 7 Parent Information Night.

The Year 7 Information Night for 2023 is what I would like to share with you today.  This year we changed up the format to make it less 'sit and listen' to a more hands-on Moama Anglican Grammar experience, which from all reports was well received.

For me it was one of the best evenings I have had the privilege to be involved in during my time at our school.  I am not saying this because I was one of the organisers!  I say this because I had the privilege of running a tour and seeing firsthand the passion that our staff and students have for OUR school.  The willingness of both the staff and students to help set up, run sessions and give freely their time made the evening the success it was.  The way in which they spoke about our school, engaged with potential new members of the Moama Anglican Grammar and their overall professionalism was a highlight.

I would like to thank the staff and students for, yet again, giving up their time and going beyond in their role with our school.  Passion is a word that is easily thrown around nowadays, but the way in which the staff presented their areas on the night demonstrated just how passionate they are for our school to succeed.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Please remember that Years 7-11 Parent-Teacher interviews are happening this coming Wednesday 11 May. This is a great opportunity to get feedback and detailed information regarding student progress and personal growth within the classroom. Interviews are face to face in the senior school classrooms from 4pm onwards.

Celebrating Culinary Careers

Some of our Year 10 and Year 11 students were given the amazing opportunity to volunteer as wait staff for the combined Kagome and ERH event, 'Celebrating Culinary Careers', where all proceeds were donated to the new ERH Cancer and Wellness Centre.

'Volunteering at the fundraiser was a very good time. I enjoyed spending the night helping George Columbaris and other professional chefs, talking with them and helping them cook. They were all extremely nice and fun to work with. We also got to try some of the food they made whilst we were there too. We learnt how to hold plates professionally and how to serve them to people. Overall it was a very good experience, something none of us will forget.'
