ACC CROSS COUNTRY - RUNNERS UP

Our ACC competitors performed extremely well yesterday at the ACC Cross Country Carnival where there were 77 schools and over 3,000 students competing. The College led the Carnival up to the last race but unfortunately were narrowly defeated by 34 points.

Congratulations to all students involved, especially to Samuel O’Brien (Year 7 Carden) who won the U13 Boys race, Meg Connolly (Year 7 Hannan) who won the U13 Girls Inclusive race and Matthew Dodds (Year 9 Carden) who won the U15 Boys race. The U13 Boys and the U16 Girls won their age group trophies.

My sincere thanks to our Head of Sport, Mr Paul Clement, and the Health and Physical Education team for preparing the students for this event.

NAS

It is fantastic to see our students being active and enjoying participating in the after school NAS Sport Competition, particularly after the Term 1 competition was cancelled.  In the first two weeks, Sacred Heart competed against John XXIII and Servite College respectively. My best wishes to all the students involved for the remaining matches for the term.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

Today we concluded National Reconciliation Week. Earlier this week, our Young Vinnies group, led by Mrs Rossana Hywood, hosted 16 Aboriginal children and their teachers for lunch and few social games in the Koort Centre. The Koondoola Primary School students’ bright, smiling faces portrayed their enjoyment at mixing and mingling with our Young Vinnies group. I thank our staff and students for fostering this wonderful relationship over many years. I hope that we, as a College, can continue to strengthen relationships and further contribute to a future where all Australians have a richer understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ history and culture.

YEARS 11 AND 12 EXAMINATIONS

The Years 11 and 12 students are now halfway through their Examinations.  Many of the students are confident of some positive results and we wish them continued success in their final week of Examinations. My tips to students on how to tackle an examination paper from last week can be found HERE. I also extend some well wishes to our Year 10s who commence their first ever set of Examinations next week.

2022 AWARDS NIGHT

This year we have decided, for several reasons, to host our 2022 Awards Night in the Koort Centre rather than at an external venue. The date, though, remains unchanged and is scheduled for Tuesday 22 November.  Further details of the evening will be communicated to the whole community in Semester 2.

WA DAY LONG WEEKEND

This Monday 6 June is the WA Day Public Holiday. I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the WA Day celebrations around the city with family and friends. Classes resume on Tuesday 7 June.

God Bless.
