Bond University Mooting

This week, Year 12 students Georgia Waterson (Senior Counsel), Olivia Chan (Junior Counsel) and Cadence Courtney (Solicitor) competed in the preliminary round of the highly contested 2022 Bond University Mooting competition. This year’s competition moved to the online world, with the College presenting arguments online. The team was coached by 2019 College Captain and Bond Scholarship holder Ava Pearson. Whilst we lost a very close challenge against Kings College, our students impressed us with their skills as oralists, demonstrating a deep understanding of the law and their ability to articulate legal arguments and respond to judges’ questions. We will be issuing certificates to these students shortly. Congratulations to Georgia Waterson, who was selected for Honourable Mentions for Advocacy.

Shake and Stir Performances

Years 9 to 12 English students enjoyed a performance from Shake and Stir, a leading contemporary theatre company. Years 9 and 10 were treated to Shake and Stir’s performance of Macbeth, where students were challenged to decide whether Macbeth was a brave soldier or a coward. Years 11 and 12 General English students watched Hamlet, which compliments preparation for their External Exam. This performance provided an insight into angst, revenge, love and loss. Students enjoyed these performances and had a chance to ask questions of the performers afterwards. These questions allowed students to gain valuable information that will inform their work and study of these plays.

Student Achievements

Air Force - Women in Aviation Program

Rachael Walsh
Rachael Walsh

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Rachael Walsh, who has been accepted into the Air Force - Women in Aviation work experience program during the school holidays. This is a wonderful achievement, given how competitive the applications are. The Camp is a four-day residential program designed to showcase the diverse activities aimed solely at young women who have an interest in flying and aviation. Held at RAAF Amberley, the Camp is designed to give participants a comprehensive overview of life in the Air Force, particularly as a pilot. The dynamic program will include flying in an Air Force aircraft, an opportunity for time in a flight simulator (SIM) and observing actual squadron operations. Serving Air Force pilots will talk about their roles and personal experiences and what motivated them to become part of the Air Force Officer Aviation group. We wish Rachael the very best in this endeavour.
