Year 1 Excursion

Last week our Year 1 students visited the Mount Coot-tha Botanical Gardens as part of their ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’ inquiry unit. The children engaged in an in-depth educational program in which they looked at various plant parts and how plants obtain their needs. They observed animals in the lagoon, discussed their external features and explored leaf litter in the rainforest.

“The cacti were magnificent and I loved the short necked turtle.”
Heston

“We got into groups and went to a place where the plants smell. We played a game where we matched the parts of a plant with cards. We saw lots of spikey plants.” Sam

“Last week we went on a bus to Mt Coot-tha. We walked around the lake and saw ducks and Eastern Water dragons.”
Bridget

Thank you so very much to all parent helpers who volunteered to assist with these activities.

Supporting Year 9 Business Ventures

The Year 9 Business and Entrepreneurship students have been busy preparing for their market stalls which are taking place during lunch on Wednesday 1 June. Stalls range from crepes and shakes, delicious desserts, dashing doughnuts, waffle road and let’s get saucy pizzas. Pre-order forms are available at Student Services for Prep to Year 6 children. Students are encouraged to pre-order by Monday 30 May to ensure they do not miss out on products on the day. No pre-orders will be accepted after this date. To pre-order, students need to ensure the forms are fully complete, contain the exact money and returned in a zip lock bag or sealed envelope with the name of the business on the outside. The pre-order envelopes are to be placed in the box at Student Services. If multiple businesses are being purchased from, a separate envelope is needed for each one. Only cash sales will be made on the day. Thank you for your support of our budding entrepreneurs!
