Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

We have had another wonderful week at St Anne's.

This week we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus so I would like to begin with a prayer for this solemn occasion.

Lord Jesus, you became man and came to live among us. For love of us, you suffered and died for us. Because you are God, you conquered death and rose on the third day. Today you return to your Father and our Father, but you promised to remain with us till the end of time, and to send us the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

With our weekly Mass schedule underway it was a great pleasure to attend Mass last Friday. Our 1/2 students with their teachers helped create a very prayerful and reflective time of prayer assisting Fr Martin for the wider community, including parents and grandparents. Please find time, as you can, to support our students in their faith journey at occasions such as this. Fr Martin also was very encouraging of the students returning at the weekend and bringing their families with them.  After all, our school is simply one part of our Parish!

This week, some Year 3-6 students represented the school at the District Cross Country on Tuesday 24 May.  Thanks to Mrs Ary for overseeing the events, staff who assisted on the day and the many parents who were able to find some time to get to the event and support our students. Our students were a credit to their families and school in the way they did their best and supported one another.

On Friday 27 May our Year 5 and 6 are students working with visitors on the "Play" initiative that helps them to learn how to set up and run playground activities for the younger students in the yard.

A gentle reminder to make sure you have contacts that can pick up your children from school in a timely manner, listed at the office. With the Winter season upon us and the nasty things going around at the moment, we are needing to send children home due to illness. It is important that we can contact someone quickly and the kids can be picked up instead of feeling miserable at school. You can check your contacts any time with Debbie in the office.

Mr Shaw sends us his best wishes for the coming week.  The 3-6 students are at swimming every day next week and we hope they have a wonderful time in the pool. Some of our students will be representing us at the Division Cross Country meeting in Hastings and we wish them all the best and congratulate them for representing our school at this level.

I want to let you all know, that the wonderful work the students did on the Stations of the Cross video is being used as an exemplar work for the Southern Region Religious Education Network next week. Well done to all the students and staff who worked so hard on this piece.

God Bless and have a great week.
