ITALIAN NEWS

The date is set! Italian Day will be held on Thursday July 14th.  Be sure to pencil it into your diaries.

This term the students will be using lesson time to prepare for Italian Day, the plan is to insource the entertainment rather than outsource it.

The day will start with a whole school assembly in which students from Grades 5 and 6 will present a fashion parade and a short skit. Students from Grades 3 and 4 will sing the Italian National Anthem and read a poem about food. Grades 1 and 2 will sing a song about animals.

Other fun activities are planned for the day and details will soon be available on Compass. A few parent volunteers will be needed to help serve the snacks, a more formal request will be made closer to the day.

The Prep program for Term 2 is focused on the theme of family. They will learn the names of family members and some simple songs and phrases within the theme.

This is Tom (5E) who very proudly came to show me his new Italian phrase book, a gift from his nonna (grandma). It is wonderful to hear from students who are practising Italian outside of school. Apart from books, there are many Internet sites that do free Italian lessons, especially on YouTube. Instagram also has many entertaining, Italian individuals who can be followed for some free and authentic Italian fun.
