Year 9 Italian: ‘La Colazione Italiana - Italian Breakfast'

As part of the Year 9 Unit on ‘Il Cibo- Food’, the Year 9 elective class have been exploring the differences and similarities between ‘colazione-breakfast’ here in Australia and in Italy!

As a result, they were able to experience first-hand, some of the treats on offer for a typical Italian breakfast...from ‘home-made crostata’ (fruit tart), ‘succo di frutta’ (fruit juice) to biscotti (Italian biscuits).

The students really appreciated and enjoyed this gastronomic experience!

Year 9 3D Art

The Year 9 3D Art students have been working really well to develop and refine their ceramic skills over the course of Term 1 creating a portfolio of work.

We have finally completed the glazing and firing processes and they are very excited to be taking their work home.

The students explored slab construction, joining, pinch pots as well as a Japanese ceramic reduction method in the creation of a Kirinuki cup.

Take a look at some of their awesome work.

Year 10 Woodwork

Some lucky Mums received beautiful wooden chopping boards for Mother's Day recently, which were made by the Year 10 students in Mr Minster's Woodwork class.

Year 10 PFR ~ MS Fun Run

On Sunday 29 May, our year 10 PFR elective students had the opportunity to complete a 5km and 10km course at the MS Fun Run. It was a cold morning but ended up being a gorgeous day as we began the run. At the start line, it was crowded as 3500 people turned up to run the event. We ran around Albert Park lake and although we did train, many found that regular training would have been helpful. At the end of the event, we rewarded ourselves with jam donuts and felt proud to support MS and we called it a day. All the students felt rewarded after completing the run and said that they would be happy to complete another one. By the end of the day, Cheltenham had raised close to $1000 for MS and nationwide the total was heading towards a million dollars. It was a great event to be a part of and had a lot of fun!

It was a very chilly morning for the MS Fun Run. It was also a very early start and many of the Cheltenham runners had sports to attend in the afternoon, which showed great commitment to the fun run. It was worth the early rise as it allowed us to get a close park with the bus and enjoy a hot chocolate and warm up dance with the crowd before setting off on our run. It was satisfying to hear the attendees say how much fun they had and how they would love to do another one in the future. I’m extremely proud of the money raised for MS as it is a very worthy cause with monies going to assist the families living with the disease. It was also great to see our Chelt students out in the broader community…something that has been missing over the past couple of years due to COVID restrictions. Well done to all the students and families who participated and donated.
