PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Although still only in its third week, Term 2 has provided the college with ample opportunities to reconnect with members of the community and show them how much they matter to us.

Anzac Day (25 & 26 April)

It was an honour for us to be invited to participate once again to the Mildura RSL’s War Graves Service at Nichols Point. On the first day of the term, we held an Anzac Day assembly where everyone could honour our servicepeople, past and present.

St Joseph the Worker Feast Day (28 & 29 April)

We celebrated the life and legacy of our patron saint spending active leisure time together and ended the festivities with a moving Mass.

Mother’s Day (6 May)

We hosted the mums and motherly figures in our lives at our Mother’s Day Breakfast. Staff and students worked together to make this very special event extra marvellous.

Moments like these define the St Joseph’s College experience for our students and their families. There are many more fantastic things happening over the next few weeks. Stay tuned here and on the college’s Instagram account for all the highlights.

On Belonging:

I recently read about a handwritten letter Pope Francis wrote to an American priest in which His Holiness offers peace of mind to LGBTQ Catholics. ‘God is Father, and he does not disown any of his children,’ the Pope wrote. People in a church may exclude others, he elaborated, but the Church ‘…calls together all her children.’ Any single church which fails to welcome all people, ‘…is not the Holy Mother Church, but rather a sect.’

Everything we do at St Joseph’s College, from our special events to ordinary school day activities, is designed to make everyone feel that they belong. Reading Pope Francis’ words made me feel proud to be a Catholic and to lead a college that includes everyone in God’s love.

God Bless
