Year 7 Orchestra Experience

Symphonic orchestras represent the incredible capacity of human beings to collaborate in highly sophisticated ways. Every musician in an orchestra needs to have attained incredible skill through countless hours of disciplined practice. A composer must conceive in their mind beautiful harmonic structures, textures, rhythms and melodies for the orchestra to bring to life. Each instrument is usually hand crafted and adjusted to maximise their tonal potential. By the time the conductor’s baton signals the first beat of a concert many individuals have been involved, challenging themselves, working tirelessly with others, honing and rehearsing to ensure the audience is lifted, edified and transported to the highest plains of appreciation of the created world. Musical moments experienced in the concert hall don’t lose their power with the fading tones of the last chord but serve to lift our minds and souls for weeks and years to come.

Orchestra Day in Year 7 is a chance for our students to experience the magic of a live orchestral sound from the musician’s chair. It provides authentic learning whilst also supporting literacy, numeracy and fine motor development. Students also experience and appreciate the level of individual accountability needed to achieve something great together with their peers.

We are really lucky to have a wonderful group of students in the Wind and Chamber Ensembles who can come together to provide an authentic experience for Year 7. Many thanks to our ensembles for their support.

Kildare is also really fortunate to have a cache of good quality musical instruments including violins, violas, cellos, double basses, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets and trombones, enough to make a symphony orchestra. Mr Thompson and Mr Chaston specialise in teaching these instruments and are given extra time to provide lessons with no additional cost to Kildare students.

Would you like to continue learning an instrument and be part of something great in our community?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful for all our instruments to be played together in an orchestra?

Please contact Mr Chaston or Mr Thompson if you would like to schedule lessons.

We look forward to hearing from you.
