Principal's Message

Diverse ~ Accepting ~ Inclusive Community

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a busy time it has been as we have celebrated Round Square Week.

Our connection with Round Square has been long and illustrious and it is due to the efforts of past staff, students and the efforts of our current staff and students who have dealt with the challenges of so many Round Square activities being on hold for the past few years due to Covid-19.

However, there is so much more to Round Square than just the exchange program. Round Square schools share a commitment to character education and experiential learning built around six themes – IDEALS – International Understanding, Democracy, Environmental Stewardship, Adventure, Leadership and Service.

The Round Square IDEALS are underpinned by twelve Discoveries that students explore on their learning journey: inquisitiveness, tenacity, courage, compassion, inventiveness, ability to solve problems, self-awareness, sense of responsibility, appreciation of diversity, commitment to sustainability, communication and team-working skills. Together these make up the Round Square Discovery Framework and the variety of activities that were on offer this week touched on many of those Ideals and Discoveries.

I would like to thank Mrs Sandi Crogan, all our staff and the Round Square committee for their efforts in making this week such a success.

We are also very excited to announce that in September this year nine very lucky students and three staff are attending the Round Square International Conference in England. The first part of the Conference is at Oxford University, and then we go to the Ryde School with Upper Chine on the Isle of Wight. We are also hoping to organise a post-conference trip to Iceland.

Thank you also to Mr Jake Butler, Mr Davey Tudor and our PE staff for another wonderful Winter Carnival. The diversity of activities at this carnival, is due to our staff and students going above and beyond expectations to ensure everyone has a good time.

Thank you and Be Kind Always,
