Media and Visual Excursion

Last week on Monday May 10, two VCE Media classes and the VCE Visual Communication class travelled to the Melbourne Museum to view the VCE Season of Excellence Top Designs exhibition and then the Media students went on to ACMI theatrette to view Top Screen.

Top Designs exhibits excellent design work from VCE students of the preceding year of design subjects such as Media, Visual Communication, Theatre Studies and Product Design. It's an opportunity for students currently studying those subjects to gain an appreciation of the enormous scope of work and the brilliant execution that students from last year were able to achieve.

While at the Museum, current Media student, Milly Fletcher, proudly showed her Product Design work from last year to the group, since the garment she made and her folio are on display as part of Top Design. Staff and students were impressed and also proud to rub shoulders with a VCE Season of Excellence recipient, while we enjoyed all of the many creative, inventive and inspiring design products on offer there.

Top Screen was also a very inspiring experience for Media students, who viewed no less than 16 short films and benefitted from a "Talk to The Film-Makers" format, where three of last year's successful Top Screen students shared their insights into the complex task of creating a film from initial concept to post-production and final edit.
