Girton Celebrates 45 Years Affiliation with the Rotary Club

On Thursday 19th May, Girton Grammar School attended an awards dinner to celebrate 45 Years of affiliation with both the Rotary Club of Bendigo South and Mr Tom Glazebrook.

The evening was a triple celebration for Girton Grammar School.

Firstly, Year 11 student, Ms Olivia Boef, is the proud recipient of the 2021 Rotary Club of Bendigo South Tom Glazebrook Scholarship.

Secondly, this year, Girton celebrates a 45-year association with the Rotary Club of Bendigo South.

And finally, we also celebrate a 45-year affiliation with Mr Tom Glazebrook, who has become a fond member of the Girton school community, attending our Speech Night awards ceremony each year to present the Scholarship that bears his name.

Each year, recipients of the Rotary Club of Bendigo South Tom Glazebrook Scholarship address a Rotary Club meeting. This year, Olivia spoke with gratitude and a deep understanding of her privilege of attending Girton Grammar School. She spoke fondly of the compassion and patience shown by her teachers and the opportunities that she has had at the school, especially as Vice House Captain and School Netball Captain.

Olivia said:

"Being awarded this scholarship has highlighted the importance of continuing to be a good role model and leader to my fellow classmates to help support them and

help improve their schooling experience as so many have done for me; it has also helped to give me the confidence and positive mindset to keep pushing myself and that I can get succeed during VCE."
