Suscipe of Catherine McAuley  -  Founder of the Sisters of Mercy

My God, I am yours for all eternity.

Teach me to cast my whole self

into the arms of your Providence

with the most lively, unlimited confidence in your compassionate, tender pity.

Grant, O most merciful Redeemer,

that whatever you ordain or permit may always be acceptable to me.

Take from my heart all painful anxiety;

suffer nothing to afflict me but sin,

nothing to delight me,  but the hope of coming to the possession of You

my God, in your own everlasting kingdom.

Amen.

Bishop of Wagga Wagga Mark Edwards OMI is celebrating a mass of thanksgiving at Sacred Heart Parish Church North Albury for the Sisters of Mercy for their work in our diocese. I will be attending as the Marian Catholic College Griffith representative.

The Mercy Sisters have a proud history here at MCC and in Griffith. The Mercy Sisters started a Catholic school in the new town of Griffith in 1921.

They have taught at Marian (formerly Catholic High) since its beginnings in 1970.  The sisters held leadership positions, sharing responsibilities with the Marist Brothers until 1991, after which they provided leadership until 2006, after which, the school was handed over to the education authorities of the diocese.

The Director of Catholic Education, Dr Andrew Watson and Bishop Mark are to be congratulated for organising this celebration. I look forward to meeting up with the sisters and sharing stories old and new with them.

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Term Two has started in a busy fashion and our students look resplendent in their winter uniforms. Thank you to all families for their support of our uniform policy. If anyone has difficulties in acquiring the uniform, we have a stock of well loved spare items that are available. Please contact our office to see if we can help. On this matter, parents please ensure that all items are labelled with names as if items aren’t able to be returned and are not claimed they will also go into our spare uniform collection.

Covid is still playing havoc with attendance of students and staff. Our teachers and support staff have struggled with absences. Our school, like any business, which I know you understand, have had many days with staff away on a daily basis and this isn’t only limited to Covid. There isn't a supply of replacements in town, so we have many staff doing extra work to help out. All schools across the state are feeling the pinch with shortages. I thank you for your patience and understanding and I thank the staff for carrying the load.

Covid shortages in staff and supplies have also affected our building program. We are nearly there with the TAS Block and the front of the school-administration and classrooms. We are confident that some spaces will be available for use by the end of this month.

On other matters, our Athletics Carnival has been postponed until next Thursday, 19 May and the same poor weather conditions caused our Cross Country for 2022 to be cancelled altogether. Parents and students of Year 12 should be receiving their HSC mid course reports on Tuesday 17 May. They will be emailed on Compass. and Year 11 Preliminary mid-course reports are soon to follow.

Peace and Best Wishes
