Year Nine Experience

The Year 9 Experience was amazing - between the red sand, brilliant blue sky, and orange rock, the places we went were some of the most beautiful I've ever been. We visited so many breathtaking places that will never be done justice in photos.
This trip had countless opportunities that we never would’ve been able to experience if we hadn’t gone. We learnt a lot through these about Indigenous history and culture, as well as lots about the land we were staying on. It was interesting, and important, and I’m very grateful for the chance to learn without being behind a computer screen.
Even after all the amazing scenery and everything we were taught, the Year 9 Experience also gave us time to connect with all of our classmates. You become a lot closer to some of your friends after spending ten days and ten nights with them.
I’m very thankful for the opportunity and hope that future year levels enjoy it as much as we did.

The year nine experience was excellent, we learned loads and saw a new fantastic thing every day, the dinners were varied, and as far as camp food goes quite lovely, however, I never want to see another wrap again. My favourite thing we did was all the swimming on country. There were also lots of super funny inside jokes like “Ulru” and “the sock” and “Russles Shack” and “prime peeking spot” It was a very enjoyable trip.

In the crimson hues of a breathtaking sunset, underneath a carpet of twinkling stars we embarked on an unforgettable odyssey that was a tapestry full of exciting adventures and profound self discovery. I think I didn’t really process it until I was seated on the plane, and then all of a sudden I was like ‘oh, I’m going now.’ And all of a sudden I was thrust into a completely different and unique world with nothing to compare to the streets of Melbourne.
I think us as a cohort bonded incredibly well over the ten days. I found myself laughing with others and sharing stories by campfires under starlight with people I didn’t know too well prior. We learnt so much about indigenous culture and saw many sacred sights that really opened all of our eyes, it was really something special. My favourite highlight of the camp was seeing a spinifex pigeon at Kings Canyon, it was absolutely insignificant to everyone else, but I found myself jumping up and down at the sight of a silly looking bird with a big crest.
