Vocational Major Pathway
Introducing a our pathway program
We are very excited to let you know about Preshil's new Year 11 and 12 Senior certificate pathway option for 2024 onwards. The Vocational Major provides students the flexibility to undertake a study program that suits their interests and learning needs, through an applied learning curriculum, alongside a Vocational Certificate II or III (known as VET).
Students undertaking this pathway are awarded the Victorian Certificate of Education at the conclusion of their studies and a recognised certificate for their completed vocational qualification but will not receive an ATAR. Students who study the Vocational Major are likely to be interested in going on to training at Technical and Further Education (TAFE), doing an apprenticeship or getting a job after completing Year 12. However it does not exclude them from pursuing other tertiary opportunities. For more information about Vocational training you can visit the GET VET website.
We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Borland, a Preshil Alumni as our VM Program Leader. Emma will commence work at the end of August and will spend Term 4 setting up the program for 2024. Emma comes to us with an extensive amount of experience working with students with different learning needs and running Senior Pathways programs. Emma has a Masters of Fine Arts, Master of Teaching and a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism.
Emma says ‘I believe my experience and interests would enable me to provide Preshil students with a personalised experience of vocational learning that is aligned with the school’s philosophy and values’. Emma is very excited to start at Preshil.
