A message from the Principal

It feels like we have been back at school for a couple of months already but today marks just two weeks since our first day of the school year.

In this time, our year levels have completed our Creating a Positive School Environment (CAPSE) program as discussed in our last newsletter. This provides our learners with such a strong foundation for a successful year and has included plenty of discussion of our new school values - Curiosity, Kindness, Resilience, and Creativity. Part of this has been each year level creating a beautiful display in the quadrangle around a value. Please feel free to come and take a look at this work.

Now CAPSE is completed, groups are settled and routines established, we can turn our attention to the school year and achieving all of our goals and making the most growth possible. We are keen that families are a central part of this work and so we have a couple of activities coming up in the next two weeks to help you better understand your child's learning for this year and to meet properly with their class teacher.

Next week we will be running online year-level parent information nights on Wednesday 23rd from 5pm - 6 pm This information night will be formed of two parts, firstly a short whole-school presentation from 5 pm to share some key information relevant to all year levels, led by myself, Michelle and Matt.

Secondly, at 5:30 pm, each year-level will then run a 30-minute session to share key information about your child's classroom and their learning this year and families will be provided with a separate link for these.

Links to these sessions will be circulated early next week but please put the date and time into your calendar now.

The following week (28th February - 4th March) will be our first parent-teacher interviews of the year and an opportunity for you to meet your child's class teacher 1:1. They will be able to discuss how they have settled into their new class and this is a great opportunity for you to share key information about your child. Appointments will be booked via Compass and further details will be sent home at the end of this week.

During this week, we are also looking forward to our first school community social event of the year - the welcome return of 'Jazz in the Park' at 5 pm on Tuesday 1st March after a covid-enforced cancellation in 2021.

For those who have not yet been to a Jazz in the Park, this is an event for families to connect and reconnect at the start of the school year. We have a live band playing in the school grounds, our Parents' Association run food stalls, and a bar, and families are invited to come along and have fun. There is more information on this event later in the newsletter, including a call for the volunteers that we need to make the evening a success.

I look forward to seeing you all over the next couple of weeks.
