Sovereign Hill

Last Friday, the 3rd of December, the Year 5 students were extremely excited to finally go to Sovereign Hill. Usually done at the beginning of Term 3 as an introduction to our Gold Rush Humanities Unit, we were very grateful that we were able to find the time before the end of the year to still visit this outdoor museum.

We spent the day exploring all of the different exhibits including panning for gold, an underground mine tour, and an area dedicated to the Chinese miners that migrated to Australia during the Gold Rush.

We also completed an education session where we got to dress up in 1850s style and retell the events of the Eureka Rebellion. It was quite timely, as it was a 176 years ago to the day of our visit that the Eureka Rebellion occurred.

We had so much fun!
