Mental Health & Wellbeing

Welcome to KCC 2022!

Welcome to new students and families and welcome back to our existing members of the Kildare community!

Term one, particularly in the first few weeks, is typically a time of either settling back into the routine of high school, or a fresh start. It can take some time to find our way, and I can assure you this applies to staff in high schools too! Even the most enthusiastic educator or support staff member may take a while to find their feet again.

Regardless of where you are at with your time at Kildare, I hope the term finds you and your loved ones well.

To aid into the transition of our Year 7 students at Kildare, we have a Year 7 Belonging Day, Week 5, Wednesday 23 of February. In groups, the students rotate through six different sessions that encourage them to learn more about our College’s culture and history. We reflect and learn about their importance as an individual at Kildare, and their place as a member of our College community.

Our session on Healthy Relationships, focuses on making good choices, inclusivity, problem solving, building confidence and getting to know others. I look forward to this session each year, as it is a great opportunity to meet the fresh Year 7 faces (even though we will all be masked this year), and for them to get to know each other a little more.

The sessions also provide an opportunity for students to form a greater understanding of the focus on the wellbeing of our students at the College.

A reminder, that for a referral to the College Counsellor, contact can be made through the students ACWC (Academic Care and Wellbeing Coordinator) or with a member of the Wellbeing Team.
