Numeracy

We are looking forward to doing a range of numeracy activities with our Level 1 and 2 students. We aim to provide learning tasks that are accessible to every kind of learner. This will be acheived through opportunities for students to use hands on manipulatives and real world examples. Furthermore, every numeracy task is designed to have an enabling and extention element to ensure that the learning intention is achievable for all students. 

 

This term, the Level 1 and 2 students will be covering the following topics:

  • Place Value
    • Recognise, model, read, write and order numbers to at least 100
    • Locate numbers on a numberline
    • Understanding two-digit numbers as being comprised of tens and ones
  • Addition and Subtraction
    • Use a range of mental strategies such as counting on, partitioning and rearranging parts
    • Exploring the connection between addition and subtraction
  • Time
    • Discuss the difference between an analogue and digital clock
    • Explore the features of a clock
    • Tell time to the half-hour
    • Tell time to the quarter-hour, using the language of 'past' and 'to'
