From the Principal
Welcome back everyone! I am aware that we are living in strange and unusual times, and that this has caused some people to feel quite unsettled. I would like to reassure you that the health, safety and well-being of everyone at RidgeView is our priority. Tomorrow, we will send home a booklet explaining health and saftey procedures and expectations at our school. Our children are awesome and take mask wearing (Waahi Pakari), hand sanitising and cleaning, and social distancing in their stride. Everyone has come back to school with a positive attitude and slotted into their new classes and routines seamlessly.
We would like to welcome Wolf Smith who joined Waahi Koru in the middle of lockdown last year, Ivy Callen, Ted Callen and Ariana Minto-Dobbs who joined Waahi Koru this week, and Willow Mahon and Ruby Mahon who have joined Waahi Pakari. We are delighted to have you at RidgeView School.

Can you help?
Student Achievement Function Plan
A group of staff and parents have been working with a Student Achievement Function Practitioner to identify a need in the school and create and implement a plan. We would love some parents who would like to contribute towards making strong links between the school and the community to come and join our team. We usually meet every second Monday from 4.30 to 6.00.
Large Raffia Mats
The school is looking to buy three large raffia mats. Does anyone know where I can source these? I have looked in both K-Mart and LookSharp without any luck.
Volunteer to man the office in case of emergencies
As part of our planning for the Omicron Outbreak, we need to find a way to cover the office if Kalene is away from school. Is there anyone who would like to volunteer to do a bit of training and to be on standby in case they are needed. Jobs would involve completing the roll online, answering the phone and doing first aid.
Secondhand Clothing
We have a large amount of secondhand clothing that can be purchased from the office for $5 per item. Please contact kalenem@ridgeview.school.nz if you are interested.
Three Way Conferences
On Wednesday 23 March 2022 we will be holding three-way conferences at school. This is a chance for students, parents and teachers to have a chat and talk about goals.
School will close at 2pm on this day. After-school care will run from 2pm.
Teacher-Only Day
Thursday 14 April (the day before the Easter long weekend) is a teacher-only day. School will be closed on this day as staff will attend a workshop on dyslexia.
Tough Guy and Gal Challenge (Mud Run)
This year the Mud Run is being held on Wednesday 3 August 2022. Years 3 and 4 run 1.5km and Years 5 and 6 run 3km. The cost is $25 per child We usually have a group of students who take part in this and we put in an entry through the school. Please let me know if your child would like to enter this year.
Fruit for Morning Tea
Some of our parents have been providing apples, bananas or oranges that I am able to cut up and put out for morning tea. If you would like to make a contribution, please let me know.
New Telephone Number
We have received notification that our landline is going to be disconnected. We will only have the mobile number 027 593 5963.
Absences
If your child is going to be away from school, please either email Kalene on kalenem@ridgeview.school.nz or phone and leave a message on the answer phone. We need to follow up every day.
