Year 5/6 Incursion

Last Wednesday 2nd February, the Year 5/6 had an incursion. We were all learning about Parliament and voting. We learnt a lot about parliament and the parties. We had so much fun doing a role play in the Parliament House and seeing what it is like.

We had a pretend debate about whether sport should be done inside of school or outside of school.

Everyone is so nice and we're all like a big community.

Yes, I worked in Aspendale and Bentleigh East.

What is something you have enjoyed so far at St Brigid’s?

I have enjoyed working with the children and alongside the staff members.

S.T.E.M

This year, the school has started to take S.T.E.M classes with Mrs Finster.  S.T.E.M stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The STEM room is upstairs in the 5/6 area. The 5/6's are working on making a little town this term. We are learning to brainstorm, design and build.  Our 1/2's are designing a house that must withstand weather and our 3/4's are designing their dream school.  Mrs Finster is looking forward to working with our Foundation Students when they come to school on a Wednesday in a few weeks.

We will be using recycled materials to build creations and solve problems along the way.

Liturgy

On the 4th February we had our first Liturgy of the year.  In this liturgy we celebrated the feast day of St Brigid's and remembered the contribution that the Brigidine sisters have made to our school and parish.  The Year 6’s and Mrs Sullivan received a blessing from the school community.  As a school we created a farewell gift for the Brigidine sisters which Mrs Harrison presented at Sunday’s Mass.

Kelly Sports

Last week on Friday 4th  February we had Kelly Sports come to us at school. Everyone had a lot of fun playing soccer, basketball and cricket. Even those who don't play those sports still enjoyed it. We hope you all had a good time and we hope they can come back.

Kelly Sports would like to run an after school progam here at St Brigid's - if you are interested see the flyer below.

We hope you enjoyed our first newsletter
