Rotary Public Speaking Competition

On Thursday, 10th February, Hollie Bennett and Mackenzie Leader (both Yr 12) competed in the 2022 Rotary Public Speaking Cluster Final. Both girls presented a five minute prepared speech and a 2 minute impromptu speech. Their topics were as follows:

  • Hollie Bennett - The Importance of Learning from History
  • Mackenzie Leader - Disability Perception and the Need to Change Perceptions
  • Impromptu - “How has COVID-19 impacted your education”

Hollie and Mackenzie absolutely stunned their audience with their presentation and content, with both hardly needing to use their palm cards at all!

They spoke with confidence and flair and received deservedly rave reviews. Hollie emerged the victor on the night, and will compete on February 20th at Moree in the 2022 Rotary Public Speaking District Final.

Congratulations to both girls, who were amazing representatives of St Mary’s College. Good luck Hollie!

***Edit*** -  We would like to congratulate Hollie on a wonderful effort at the Rotary District Finals in Moree on 20 February, Hollie, unfortunately, did not progress to the next stage but came away with some great inspiration for the Lions Youth of the Year in March.
