2021 was another successful year for the Digital Technology Faculty at Mazenod College. The Y12 students doing the VCE Software Development obtained the following scores: two students received 45 which were the highest scores, seven students received 40+, and the class average was 36. The VCE Software Development class has been in the top 5 in the State for over 10 years. Congratulations to Mr Ian Steel and his students.
In 2021, we also saw the retirement of Mr John Wright who left the College to enjoy his long-deserved break after teaching Digital Technologies for the past 18 years. This year we welcome a new Digital Technologies teacher – Ms Carolyn Gekas. Having previously worked here at Mazenod as a pre-service teacher and later in a casual capacity, Ms Carolyn Gekas is very excited to be returning to the College. This year she will be teaching Information Technology, STEM Robotics and VET IT. Ms Carolyn Gekas has worked in the corporate sector for more than 15 years as an IT Business Analyst, specialising in Business Process Management, and last year she was employed at Balwyn High School as an IT and Maths teacher.
Although 2021 was full of uncertainty and confusion, teachers and students continued to produce outstanding work. The short video below showcases the 2021 junior Digital Technologies classes.

Last but not least, I would like to wish all the students and their families good luck and every success during the year of the Tiger, 虎年大吉!
Warm regards,
Ms Xin Chen
