Week 7 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week Seven of Term 3. We have another exciting few weeks ahead.

This coming week, we celebrate Book Week with lots of book-related activities. In Literacy, the students will explore the shortlisted books from the Children’s Book Council Association (CBCA).  This Tuesday, we will host a book character parade at 9am in the hall. All parents are welcome to join us. Please see the Learning and Teaching page for more details about activities and competitions.

The Foundation to Year 2 students are off to the Scienceworks Museum to continue their Inquiry learning and answer their big question: What makes it move? They are very excited about the visit.

School Closure Day

Our school closure day is this Friday, August 26th.  The teachers will engage in professional learning and development around our Catholic identity. The day’s learning will centre around what a Catholic school should look like in our community context. We aim to develop a shared understanding of what it means for us as a faith community and deepen our understanding of our new vision and mission statement.

Father’s Day

To acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of fathers, grandfathers, or a special father figure, we as a school community have an exciting morning planned for next Friday, the 2nd of September. Breakfast and activities will be at 8am, followed by prayer and an opportunity to collaborate with your child in their learning space from 9am. We hope to see you all there. Please see the Parent’s and Friend committee page for more information.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mr. Jennings and all the students who participated in the SVV Coburg District Athletics last week. It was such a wonderful day. The kids had a fun day participating in various events and cheering on their teammates. We especially thank Mr. Jennings for all his work organising such a big event.

Congratulations to the 42 Year 3 to 6 students who participated in the Prime Minister Spelling Bee competition. The results of our school round will be announced later in the week. We will acknowledge the students at next week’s assembly.

Thank You

Thank you to Mrs. Colleen Monaghan for hosting the Junior Maths Games day last Wednesday. The students bounced into school on Wednesday in anticipation of their games day. Throughout the day, the students were engaged and engrossed in their learning. I would also like to thank the teachers and parents who supported the students during the day.

Have a wonderful week,

Vira Pirrotta
