Superhero    Kyle    09/09/2022

Our Super Hero for this week is receiving the award for the school values of Pride and Persistence.

Kyle has been working so hard to become a super reader and a super writer and has shown super hero skills in stretching words and recording sounds. He reads and practises letter sounds consistently at home and makes the most of all reading and writing opportunities at school.

Kyle has made so much progress in reading and writing this term and is proud of his successes. He has a growth mindset, approaching challenges with positivity and a smile. He enjoys celebrating his wins because he knows that they have come as a result of his hard work and dedication to his learning.

This Grade Prep student is an inspiration to other students and Studio 5B is proud to have Kyle in our class.

Congratulations Kyle, we hope you have a great week!

What a fantastic Kyneton Daffodil and Arts festival we have had this year. The Kyneton Primary Choir participated in a “Vocal Salon” at the Bluestone Theatre, and many students took part in the joyful, colourful Daffodil Parade on Sunday.

Olive, Asher, Mila, Austin, Alex and Ms Polly a blaze of colour after playing with the Kyneton Street Band in the Parade. Josie and Errol also played with the Street Band.

Sports News

Division Athletics

On Monday 12th September 3 students travelled back to Bendigo to represent our school at the CDSSA Division Athletics Day. On a very successful day, all 3 students won their events and have now qualified for the Regional Championships in Bendigo on Monday 10th October.

Congratulations and good luck to Johnny (Discus), Mikayla (high jump) and Charli (shot put).

Parents & Friends News

Father’s Day Stall

On Friday 2nd September the Parents and Friends committee hosted a Father’s Day Stall for all children at the school. It was a great opportunity for students to purchase a present for someone special in their family, and they were really proud to be handing over real money at the makeshift store. Many thanks to all parents that volunteered their time to shop, wrap, and man the stall. And many thanks to the generous donations from Kmart Woodend and in particular the brilliant local native nursery Grow Locals (growlocals.com.au). It was a great success!

Daffodil Parade Fair – Parents and Friends Stall

It has been a big week for Kyneton as we near the end of the Daffodil Festival. The Grand Parade and Fair is a fitting finale on the 11th September, and the Parents and Friends will be there to feed the hungry crowds. We will be set up for the fair at the old school grounds from 12:30 where there will also be loads of entertainment and fun to be had. Come along and get a delicious free range pulled pork roll, or a very tasty vegetarian/vegan option, and in turn raise a bit of money for the school.

Spare clothes needed

Occasionally students have accidents in the mud etc. so we try to keep a supply of spare clothes, like pants and socks, for them to change into. If you have any old clothes that don't fit your child anymore, please send them to the office. They will be greatly appreciated.

Canteen Helpers

Our canteen gets increasingly busy towards the end of the week and new our canteen manager Trish would greatly appreciate some volunteers to assist with packing lunches and serving our students at lunchtime.

Volunteers are greatly needed on Thursdays and Fridays between 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm.

If you are able to assist, please complete the attached form and return it to the office. Please note that all volunteers onsite are required to have a valid Working with Children Check. This is free for volunteers and can be easily applied for online.

Students Arriving Late

Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book.  They will then be issued a late pass to take to class and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll.  This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.

Accessing Compass

Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au

Using our parent portal will enable you to –

  • View up-to-date class and school attendance information
  • Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
  • Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
  • Access information regarding upcoming events and news
  • Access your child’s Semester Reports
  • Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences

We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notification to ensure you receive all communications.

Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.

2022 Uniform

School uniforms are available for purchase online direct from A Plus Schoolwear www.aplusschoolwear.com.au

When ordering uniforms please put the studio number of your child for easier delivery.

Once uniforms arrive at school they will be sent home with your child.

Managing illness in schools - COVID 19

One of the most important things we can do to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community is to stay at home when we are unwell, even when we have the mildest of symptoms.

What you need to know

Young children with persistent mild symptoms

Younger children (pre-school up to Grade 2) may have prolonged post-viral symptoms such as a runny nose or cough and may return to school following a negative COVID-19 test even if they are not completely free of symptoms. They will need a medical certificate from their GP to confirm they are otherwise well or have recovered from their acute illness.

Any worsening of symptoms will require review and repeat COVID-19 testing, if considered appropriate by the doctor.

Students with a negative COVID-19 test whose symptoms have completely resolved do not need a medical certificate to return to the school.

For further information for schools and to distribute to families please see the attachment below.
