Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Today we had our annual Book Week parade at our Monday morning assembly.  It was great to see all the children dressed as their favourite book character and staff that joined in showing the school community their favourite character as well.  It was wonderful to see so many parents  attending our assembly and enjoying watching the Book Week parade.  Parents are welcome to attend our assemblies which are held Monday mornings, see you then.

On a safety note, please remember to use the pedestrian gates to enter and exit the school grounds. I have had to speak to parents walking around the boom gates and through the car park with their children and other children following, which is very unsafe, as there are cars entering and exiting throughout the day.

Final reminder, due to the ongoing high number of staff taking leave across the state of Victoria and the subsequent lack of replacement teachers, the Department of Education has requested that schools have a common professional practice day where all teachers have this day at the one time.  Mackellar Primary School’s common Professional Practice Day will be taking place on Wednesday 31st of August.  On this day, students will not be required at school.  TheirCare will be offering care for students on Wednesday 31st of August.  We have selected a Wednesday as previous days have included Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with the upcoming November curriculum day on a Monday.  We hope this limits disruption to any one day of the week over the course of the year.

The end of Term 3 is Friday 16th September. The children will be dismissed at 2:30pm. If you are needing the services of TheirCare they will be offering care from 2:30pm.

Regards,

Anthony Michielin
