Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) News
Pride Group
Mr James Russell
The O'Connor PRIDE Group have continued to get together and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture. Last Thursday ATSI students from Yr 7 to 10 got together to learn about the Boomerang. Students gathered inside around our yarning mat to first learn about how Boomerangs are made and the different varieties and their unique uses. After this students headed out to the oval to have a go at throwing some Boomerangs. A fantastic time was had by all as students figured out techniques to make the Boomerangs fly and their throws improved.
We have two morte PRIDE Sessions planned for this term. The first of these will be focused on Health and our final session in the last week of term will be the long awaited cultural visit to Mt yarrowyck.
