Grade 5/6 News

Congratulations to all 5/6 students on a successful return from school holidays. 

This week students engaged in some creative mathematics, learning all about and creating Tessellations. 

 

 

 

Important dates for Year 7 2024

 

Wednesday 1st November – Transition Day – NON CREW schools

Non CREW Schools (Students attending Galen from all Primary Schools other than St. Bernard’s, St. Patrick’s and Our Lady’s)

 

Thursday 2nd  November – Transition Day –  CREW schools

CREW Schools (Students attending Galen from St Bernard’s, St Patrick’s and Our Lady’s)

 

Students are invited to attend a day at Galen to begin the transition from primary to secondary school. Children will be supervised by Galen College staff and will be involved in a number of activities for the day. Students should bring a backpack, pencil case, hat, water bottle, recess and lunch for the day. The school canteen will also be open. Students will need to wear their current primary school uniform.

All students will need to be signed in and out by a parent/guardian on Transition Day. Entrance via Phillipson Street Entry 2 (Yellow Building).

First Bell: 8.40am

Final Bell: 3.29pm

 

Thursday 2nd November 7pm – Year 7 2024 Parent Information Night

Parents are invited to attend the Parent Information Night. Information will be shared about expectations around uniform, homework, laptops and laptop induction, PAM/SIMON. This will be held in the Galen Resource Centre. Children do not attend this event as they have their own transition days.

 

Tuesday 12th December – Orientation Day

Students will find out the House and Homeroom they will be in for 2024 and who their Homeroom Mentor will be. They will start the process of getting to know their new classmates and hear about the expectations of them when they start Year 7 next year. After the general introductions children will experience a day in the life of a Galen student by taking part in a number of different classes. Students should bring a backpack, pencil case, hat, water bottle, recess and lunch for the day. Students will need to wear their current primary school uniform.

Students do not need to be signed in and out on this day. If you have received confirmation prior to the 12th of December that your child has a position on the bus, they are encouraged to travel by bus on this day.
