Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Many of you may be aware that we often play “The Wonderful Challenge” at our whole school Morning Briefing as a way to begin our day here at school. The Wonderful Challenge invites two “contestants” from among the students to come out the front and tell us all about three wonderful things that happened to them yesterday/this morning/over the weekend etc. It is funnier and much more fun than you might imagine.

We have plenty of volunteers every time, which is a very good sign. I am trying to teach the children about gratitude. All of us have good and bad things happen every day, and it can sometimes be hard to find the positives, however, I am convinced that it is good for our own mental health and for the mood of those around us that we can find, name and celebrate all that we have to be grateful for.

Nobody likes the whinger do they?

The belly laughs that some of the volunteers give us at the start of the day are very helpful too!

I can highly recommend this activity for the drive home from school in the car, for the dinner table when the whole family is gathered or maybe when it’s time to say “Goodnight” to the kids. Sharing three things that were wonderful today - that’s all it is.

This week I have stepped up the challenge. Not only do the children have to keep an eye out for wonderful things that happen around them, but this week I have challenged each of them to be the reason that someone else’s day is wonderful. - For advanced players only!

END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS Third term will conclude THIS Friday, September 16th at 2:25pm. Children will be given a hot dog and a drink for lunch on Friday unless parents have advised us otherwise (NO LUNCH ORDERS). The cost of this lunch is built into your fees and helps to offset the cost of our Grade 6 camps.

Children may wear casual clothes but are encouraged to wear their footy colours and bring a gold coin donation. These donations will be sent to the “Fight Cancer Foundation” to support children with cancer.

It is now a requirement for all students to wear their school hats (clearly labelled) when outdoors.

Please refer to page 3 for more details. Fourth term will begin on Monday, October 3rd.

ASSEMBLIES Our final assembly for Term 3 will be held this Friday morning. Given that we have not had a Covid-19 case reported in the school since August 30 (Yay!), we are happy to open assemblies up to parents and carers from this Friday on.
