From Mandy O'Mara

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we await the return of our Year 6 campers we are hearing stories of the wonderful experiences they have had. Our camping program is such an important part of our student learning. School camps build confidence, ignite creativity and problem-solving, stimulate a sense of adventure, encourage social interaction and team-building, and promote independence. I would like to acknowledge the hard working staff who make these opportunities possible. These amazing people donate their time to ensure our students are getting the very best opportunities.

Last week I hosted our first coffee and chat morning. The attendees brainstormed conversation topics they would like to place on the agenda moving forward. A calendar of these coffee mornings and topics will be published next term.

NAPLAN results have arrived in school. Students who participated will receive their results before the end of term. Here is some advice on how to discuss NAPLAN results with your child …

The last day of Term 3 will be a Curriculum Day. Please be advised that students will finish at 2:30 on Thursday 15 September.

If you were 1 of the 330 parents randomly selected to participate in a Parent Opinion survey please ensure you complete the survey ASAP. Your opinions are valued and help us to shape the future of our school. Our response rate is really low at present.

We are now well and truly in the planning phase for 2023 and as such it is important that we have a true and accurate indication of our student numbers for next year.  If you have neighbours or friends looking to enrol a student in 2023 please encourage them to contact us ASAP to organise enrolment forms. We currently have 60 Prep students enrolled for next year. We are beginning to process those enrolments and organise groupings and staffing. Enrolled students will be receiving correspondence from us in relation to orientation days and information sessions. If you have a child starting Prep next year please ensure you submit your enrolment forms ASAP so that you do not miss out on important correspondence.

If you are one of our existing families and relocating at the end of the year or leaving us for other reasons, please let us know as soon as possible.

Class list creation for 2023 will be one of the foci of our term four meetings. If you have requests re groupings please make sure you submit them in writing to the school in the first week of next term. Classroom teachers spend many hours creating new classes. It is important to recognise that many factors are taken into account when these classes are being created; they might include academic levels of students, friendship groupings, friendship issues and teacher judgements. All requests will be considered but not guaranteed.

Kind regards,

Mandy O’Mara

Acting Principal.
