Cloudy with a chance of athletics glory

Rain clouds didn't dampen the spirits of students and staff who shook off some intermittent showers to make the St Anne's College Athletics Carnival a joyous and successful day on the track. From Foundation through to Year 10, students excitedly made their way through the events, chanting and cheering each other on in an uplifting atmosphere of team spirit. Staff joined in on the action as well, putting in an impressive performance in the staff versus students relay. Montessori and Cooper Houses were neck and neck for Athletics Carnival glory for most of the day, with Montessori coming out on top to claim victory for the second consecutive year. Alick laps it up at state championships

On the 1st of August my dad and I headed down to Melbourne at four o’clock in the afternoon to get to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) at six to swim in the Victorian state championships. That night I had one relay and over the weekend I would race two more times.

My first race on Friday night had gone well and our relay team had come fourth in our heat. My second race was terrible, going three seconds over my personal best which wasn’t too good. However my third race was great; I held my personal best.

We had three swimmers race in multiple state finals; they each performed very well and we were extremely proud of how they went. All in all it was the most amazing experience and I was very grateful to have the opportunity to go. Even if I almost died by Sunday afternoon.
