Principal's report

Mr Shaun McClare

I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Kalinda Primary school gathers, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.

Thank you for a great term

Thanks to everyone for a great third term. Throughout this term we saw fantastic learning growth for our students, we had so much fun at special events and fantastic times were had on excursions and camps.

Thank you to our students for having a growth mindset with their learning. Thank you to the parents for continuing to support all that we are doing at Kalinda. And thank you to our amazing teachers and ES staff for delivering excellent learning and wellbeing outcomes for our students.

I hope everyone has a relaxing and refreshing school holiday.

Basketball Court re-surfacing

Our outdoor basketball courts will be re-surfaced over the summer holiday period. This will be done to ensure our students continue to have the best possible facilities at school.

Thank you to our Facilities Project Manager, Vicki Beard, and members of the Facilities sub-committee for the work you have done in planning these works. Our Facilities sub-committee is also currently involved in planning a major refurbishment of our school library, and in the near future, we will be looking at upgrading our school playgrounds and toilets.

We are committed to continuing to keep our school facilities at a very high level to meet the learning and well-being needs of our students.

To prepare for the re-surfacing of the basketball courts, two trees will be removed during these school holidays. These trees, which are approximately 30 years old, are too close to the fence and courts and are too much of a safety hazard. Their root systems have already begun impacting the existing basketball courts and they create a potential trip hazard. We will continue to plant many major trees at the school (as we did earlier in the term) as we always wanted to be adding more trees than we have to take away.

Please feel free to contact me via email, shaun.mcclare@education.vic.gov.au, if you have any feedback or questions about these works, or if you would like to get involved with the exciting work that our facilities sub-committee is undertaking.

2023 Enrolments

For any families in our community with younger siblings planning to come to begin at Kalinda in 2023, we would ask that you please submit their enrolment form as soon as possible. This allows us to begin planning for 2023.
