Class News
It's been a busy few weeks and we are hurtling towards to the end of term at breakneck speed! Despite feeling tired, and possibly overwhelmed, it is important to keep focus for the next few weeks. Our Year 12s, in particular, will be feeling the strain; we are here to help so please make sure you check in with staff if you need any help at all.
Whilst many of our students have been away at Country Week, those remaining at the College have been busy with Trades, Farm and Class activities. A highlight of the week was the Amazing Race, with lots of problem solving and teamwork. The team with the highest score was Darcy, Bayley and Adam - amazing team effort, boys! A huge thank you to our staff for organising this event.
Country Week News
It has been an absolute privilege to watch our students participate in Country Week. We couldn't be prouder of their sportsmanship and support of each other's teams. It's a challenge mentally and physically to compete in tournaments whilst staying in unfamiliar surroundings. It's also the other learning experiences that are just as important - walking safely down city streets, sharing food with the homeless, ordering Uber eats, working out how to turn the lights on in your hotel room and shopping for essentials. Stay tuned for a summary of results in the next edition of the Chatter.
Never too old to learn
Last week, our staff participated in some professional learning. At the end of the day, we were treated to a farm tour by Mr de Beer and learned all about the cropping program, proving you are never too old to learn!
Mathematics - Ms Borshoff
It has been a very busy term for the Year 11s and 12s as they have been preparing for the College Open Day in Week 9.
Students have been covering new topics in Mathematics, as well as preparing work and continuing their assessments for the term. The Year 12s have been studying the topic of Earth, Geometry and Time zones: locating positions and distance between two points using latitude and longitude and GPS, as well as linking longitude and time, time zones and associated practical applications. The year 11s have been covering the topic of percentages: identifying and calculating percentages of a given amount and increasing and decreasing percentages using simple interest.
The Year 12 GEN1 and GEN2 are completing their last topic for Term 3 on Loans and Compound Interest, as their school-based mathematics journey finally comes to a close. We are looking forward to our mathematics work being presented and displayed for the up-and-coming College Open Day for family and friends.
