From the Principal

Tim Pass

Acting Principal

Hello all parents and caregivers

I trust you are all enjoying the beautiful cool and sunny days we have experienced since the recent rains.

I joined our students at the Dowerin Field Days last Thursday and was very impressed with the event. I had conversations with many past students (some dating back to 1962) who spoke glowingly of their time at the college. I had several people compliment our students on both their dress and behaviour. John Bowler, the Mayor of Kalgoorlie, was one such individual who praised our students.

Friday 26 August was a pupil free day when staff worked productively in Learning Areas to plan for quality outcomes in the future for all students. I was very impressed by the guest presenter, Claire Eaton. Claire is a life coach specialising in Teen Coaching. She helped expand our knowledge on how to better understand how boys in particular learn and how we can support them to be the best they can be. This knowledge can be applied to all students.

The School Ball was held at the Parmelia Hilton on Saturday 27 August. It was great to see everyone dressed up and enjoying themselves in a social setting. Everyone behaved splendidly. It was nice to see parents enjoying themselves at the George Hotel on St Georges Terrace which is conveniently located a stone’s throw from the Hilton.

On Monday 29 August at 6.30am around 70 students headed to Perth for Country Week and I am sure they represent the College proudly and enjoy the opportunity to compete amongst other like-minded students from around the state. Students not on Country Week had the opportunity to complete College projects in Trades and catch up on any outstanding work in Farm and Class.

I take this opportunity to wish all our students well and congratulate them on their behaviour while I have been filling in for Matt. The high calibre leadership and quality staff

ensure all students will be supported to be the best they can be.
