Message from Bob Stewart

Bob Stewart would like to thank you for your continued support of our ongoing partnership.

Preparation for 2023 back to school period is well underway, with our manufacturing and procurement divisions working solidly to ensure we are ready to welcome many new families to our stores. While we no longer have mandated Covid restrictions in store, we will continue to offer uniform appointments as this was welcomed by many of your community over the last few years.

Bob Stewart, like all businesses, has faced ongoing challenges over the past few years.  Despite these challenges, we have continued to invest in research and development of sustainable fabrics. We will be adding stretch to many of our fabrics  to ensure your students can learn in comfort, we will also use a recycled component in many materials,  where the use of these materials does not impact on the durability of the garment.

Mindful of the impact of COVID over the last two years we made the decision to largely absorb  price increases in raw materials, manufacturing and transport costs.  However, given the four-fold increases in freight costs, rising raw material and manufacturing costs, together with wage increases we will need to increase our retail uniform pricing for the 2022/2023 financial year. We  appreciate the impact of the rising costs of living  on families, and while our costs overall have risen on average by 6-12%, we have kept our price increase to 5-6%.

ThinkUKnow Parent Information Session

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program led by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), delivered nationally in partnership with police and industry partners to keep young people safe online. The program is pro-technology and encourages help-seeking behaviour if students see anything unsafe online.

We have been very lucky to secure an online Parent Information Session with ThinkUKnow.

Date: Monday 10th October

Time: 5:00pm-6:00pm

Where: Webex  - Miss Jo will send out details of the Webex link nearer the time.

ThinkUKnow will provide parents and carers with a broad understanding of the types of things that young people SEE, SAY and DO online.

As parents and carers, you play an important role in protecting your child from online harm. The educators at ThinkUKnow aim to support you in preventing and managing safety challenges that your child may face, as well as guiding your child to understand these and feel empowered to take action.

It’s sometimes assumed that technical actions such as parental controls and filters alone are enough to keep children and young people safe, but often more is needed. There is no ‘quick fix’ when it comes to online safety or protecting your child from harm, and it’s important to use a range of prevention strategies. A complete approach includes using both technology settings as well as open conversations with children and young people about what they do online. Our Parent Information Session will support you with how to have these conversations with your children.
