VCAL Salvos Homeless Excursion

The Year 11 Personal Development Skills classes have been studying the topic of homelessness, learning the initial cause is often started by relationship breakdowns. As part of this unit the students organised an excursion to Melbourne to a Salvation Army facility that supports hundreds of homeless people each day. They learnt about the many services offered by the Salvos and were given an insight into the number of people who are homeless both nationally and in Victoria. Students also went on a tour to places that homeless people are and listened to some of their stories. Prior to the day the students worked together in small groups to fundraise with all money raised going towards the purchase of food items to donate to the charity.
