Christmas is coming,

https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/christmas

This year, as in previous years, we will have a Gift giving tree in our school foyer.

This year we will be supporting Uniting Homelessness services.

New or unused toys can be donated from now, as our special helpers have set up the tree ready to receive gifts.

The gifts will be picked up and distributed to the families on December 12th.

When shopping, if you are able to purchase a small present, we would be so grateful.

Please do not wrap it - being able to see it assists the organisers with the distribution.

Choir and Highland dancing events

Our choirs and Highland dancers are expected to be very busy before the end of term and have been asked to attend some local events.

If you would like your child to participate, or attend in support, the details are below.

Maroondah Carols will be held on Saturday 3rd December. As this is not a school event, it is voluntary to attend, but we would love all of Grade 5 & 6 Highland dance groups, with the Junior and Senior Choir members who are able to attend. There was an email sent to families with all details involved.

We would love families to support our students if you were intending to attend as a family.

Please give all the school performers a big cheer!

Please be aware that as this a weekend event, and this is not an official or required event for students to attend, all children will remain the responsibility of their parents/guardians and parents/guardians will remain responsible for the supervision of their child.

Performers are to meet Mrs Butler and Cheryl at 6:10 pm. We will be performing from 6:25-6:45 pm

The full carols program will commence at 7:30pm, and families are welcome to stay. There will be a fireworks display around 9.45pm (weather permitting).

Please contact Mrs Butler if you have any questions or concerns.

Kalinda Carols Night

Our annual Kalinda Carols Night is being held on Thursday 8th December.

All Kalinda students will be performing in their class group, their chosen Christmas carol.

Carols will begin at 5 pm.

Students will need to be supervised by parents if they are staying for Carols. Both choirs will perform on the night. P&F has organised activities from 3 pm. We encourage all families to attend and stay together.

Please note that this is an alcohol-free and dog-free event (with the exception of school and service dogs).

Bring your picnic rugs and singing voices, hats and sunscreen for a wonderful family event.

  • P&F Sausage Sizzle is available to purchase from 3.30 pm until the start of carols
  • Grade 5s and 6s will be selling Zooper Doopers and have some fun activities including the popular Chocolate/Lolly Coin Toss.
  • Many Food Trucks will be joining us and open from 3.30 pm to purchase snacks and dinner
  • VIP area reserved for all our volunteers so you won’t miss out on a great Carols spot while helping out on a duty

Wonnies Concerts

On this Friday, 2 nd December, students who have music lessons with Wonnies will be performing for our students, and the parents of performers, 2 mini concerts in the Kalinda stadium.

Wonnies will individually email the parents of all students who will be performing.

The first concert will begin at 11.45, and the second at 12.25.

Please contact Wonnies for further details.

 New seats

You may have noticed some new tables and seats in the grassed area of the Senior playground. These were produced using the timber from 2 large gum trees that needed to be removed from the perimeter of our basketball courts.

Being able to reuse and recycle the wood in a useful manner has been extremely satisfying.
