Principal's report

Mr Shaun McClare

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future.

We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.

State Election

It was great to spend the afternoon with our Parents and Friends at the State Election on Saturday. Kalinda hosted a sausage sizzle (democracy sausages...a must!), cake stall, and second hand book stall manned by parent and staff volunteers, and a chocolate/lolly toss capably supervised by our Grade 5s and 6s who were raising money for their graduation fund.

It was such a good day to be an Australian; the sun was shining, kids were playing, and we all commented on how fortunate we felt to have the democratic right to vote. It was once again such a wonderful example of our school community and the positive culture that our school is so well known for. A huge thank you must go to Andrea Badlee, Jo Sahhar and the many many helpers who made our fundraising efforts such a success.

Celtic Christmas

Last week's concert featuring our Highland Dancers and Choirs was such a joyous event and although I was on leave with my family, I just loved the many photos and videos I received of such a wonderful occasion. The stadium was packed with proud parents, grandparents, friends and peers and our students performed so beautifully. The great success of the afternoon was a testament to the extremely hard work of Sarah Butler, Cheryl Henry-Wild and their team of helpers and I cannot thank them enough for their phenomenal dedication and passion for performing arts.

Thank you volunteers

On Tuesday, all of our staff joined together to cater a beautiful morning tea for parents and family members who have contributed so much to our school this year. It is our absolute pleasure to celebrate and thank all volunteers at Kalinda from classroom helpers, to SAKG assistants, excursion attendees and committee members...and much much more. There are so many parents and family members who contribute in so many different ways and really enrich our community. Thank you very much to each and every person who has given their time this year.

2023 Enrolments

For any families in our community with younger siblings planning to come to begin at Kalinda in 2023, we would ask that you please submit their enrolment form as soon as possible. This allows us to begin planning for 2023.
