Phytoplankton wins the rebooted Alice Springs RoboCup competition!

A group of St Philips enterprising Year 8 students won both sections of the interschool RoboCup at the Andy McNeill room at the Town Council on Saturday 22 October.

Kai Jarmain, William Kain and Taylor Mostran designed and coded both a Riley Rover Robot and an infra-red soccer ball seeker bot.

The Riley Rover had to navigate a tortuous black line to a chemical spill where it performed a rescue mission. It was named Phytoplankton by the students because of its distinctive feelers.

The soccer player had to find the infra-red emitting ball and boot it through the goals, without becoming tangled up with their opponents robot.

Another entry from Year 7 students Tiki Willcocks and Atticus Angelo also performed well but had problems finishing the rescue task in the allotted time of 120 seconds.

Congratulations to all 5 students for their skill and initiative.
