Year 10s Enjoy P.A.R.T.Y Program

A group of Year 10 students were recently involved in the P.A.R.T.Y Program (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth); a dynamic, interactive, injury prevention program for teenagers. The students heard from various professionals (paramedics, trauma team, and allied health crew such as OT’s and Physio’s) and were immersed into their roles through being the first responders in a realistic scenario, being assigned specific tasks in ED, and briefly experiencing some components of the rehabilitation process.

The ultimate goal of the P.A.R.T.Y. program is to reduce the number of youth who suffer traumatic injury because of poor choices with regards to taking risks. The P.A.R.T.Y. program seeks to increase knowledge and change attitudes and behaviours. It aims to promote injury prevention through reality education, enabling youth to recognize risk and make informed choices about certain activities and behaviours.

This has been the first group at St Philip’s College to go through the P.A.R.T.Y Program and whilst it was a big day, I thank the students for being very respectful to the presenters and getting fully involved for the whole day. We would love to see more involved next time this opportunity arises so keep an eye out!
