DIVISION CRICKET

Our T20 Blasters headed off to Glen St Reserve for the Division finals last week.  They played in very wet conditions against the best teams in the local area.  They beat teams from Hampton and Malvern to claim the title of the Kingston Division champs.  Highlights included a hat-trick from Sol and a maiden over from Jonas.  The next date is the South Metro Region event on Thursday 17th November to be held at Emil Madsen Reserve in Mt Eliza.   Thank you to all of the parents who braved the awful conditions to support our team.

STATE ATHLETICS

Our Year 6 student Milo, represented St Louis at the State Athletics Carnival on Tuesday.  His pet event is the long jump and he competed against the top 16 jumpers in the state.  Milo finished a very impressive 5th and the school couldn’t be prouder of him.  I would like to thank his family in particular for the support they give both Milo and “Tiny” in their athletics pursuits.  They make it all possible and we are positive their athletics will only get better from here.

SWIMMING

St Louis has booked the Toby Haenan Swim Centre for three mornings of “squad” swimming.  It is a 25 m pool.  And it is perfect for those who are on the verge of being able to swim a 25 m lap without stopping to come down and work on their swimming stamina.  It is open to anyone from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 to come down and swim laps.  If your child is a competent swimmer, it is also a good way to get in some practice for this year’s first ever intra-school swimming carnival.  The dates are:

  • Wednesday 23rd November
  • Wednesday 30th November
  • Wednesday 7th December

Sessions will start at 7.30 am and parents will have to be in attendance.

RUNNING CLUB

We start again next Tuesday 8th  November at 7.45 am.  We run 2 km and parents are most welcome to come and join us.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Our 4 week interschool sports program started on Friday.  Our Year 6s play basketball, volleyball, kickball, Rookie Rollers (lawn bowls) and T20 Blast (cricket).  For instance, I took 7 disgruntled volleyballers (they all missed out on their first selection) to the hall to play the reigning Chelsea Division volleyball champs from Aspendale Gardens PS.  We won 25-26, 25-21, 15-11.  Nothing like a good result to prosper some self belief.  We are looking good for the rest of the term.
