Soccer Gala day and State Athletics

                                  Soccer Gala Day

Last Wednesday 84 students from Years 3-6 participated in the very first Warrnambool District Gala Day at Harris Street Reserve.

All of the students demonstrated an excellent have a go attitude as well as the WEPS school values.

It was so pleasing to see so many of our students being active and showing their passion for soccer.

A massive thank you to all the staff who helped and supported the students on the day. Many thanks to the parents and friends who came along to support the children on the day as well.

                        State Athletics Championships

On Wednesday 2nd November, in excellent conditions, 6 students from Years 6 represented our region at the Victorian State Athletics Championships.

This event was held at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne. Lillias McKellar, Scarlett Pearce, Lucy Kavanagh, Rebecca Rodda, Henry Rattray and Callum Wade were very excited to compete against the best in our state.

All of the students did extremely well in their respective events. Lillias competed in the 100m sprint finishing in 11th place with a sizzling time of 14:35 and narrowly missing out on a spot in the final.

Callum ran excellently in the 1500m finishing with a time of 5:14.75 and 13th spot overall.

Henry showed grit and determination in the high jump, jumping 1.33m and finishing 14th overall.

Then the 12/13 Girls Relay team hit the track. Scarlett got the team off to a flyer, followed by Bec who fought courageously down the back straight. Then it was over to Lucy who zipped around the bend and finally over to Lillias who flew down the home straight. The girls finished an amazing 12th overall with a time of 59.85. We are very proud of all these students who did their best in these events.

Each of these students demonstrated our school values from our House Athletics Day in Term One all the way into the State Championships.

Many thanks to all the parents for transporting the children to and from the sports in Melbourne.

All students said they had a terrific experience competing against the best in our state.
