Lantern Festival

你好 (nǐ hǎo),

 

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, the students have been learning about the different legends and traditions and making decorations and crafts for the New Year. The Lantern Festival is part of the Lunar New Year celebration and it happens on the 15th day of the Lunar New Year. The Lantern Festival concludes the New Year celebration and for this year, it falls on Friday 26th February. One of the traditions for the Lantern Festival is doing riddles. Here are some riddles in light of the Lantern Festival spirit and you will be able to find the answers at the end of the page.

  1. Take off my skin and I will not cry, but you will. What am I?
  2. What can you catch but not throw?
  3. What is bigger when new and grows smaller with use?
  4. What turns everything around but does not move?
  5. What happens twice in a week and once in a year, but never in a day?
  6. What kind of room has no windows or doors?
