2PD Finds a Poem!
Inspired by a walk in Darling Gardens and the story: Daniel Finds a Poem by Micha Archer |
We hear
Tip, tip, tap of raindrops falling off leaves,
Quiet sounds of the rainbow lorikeets silent in the grass,
And then,
Loud footsteps of the school children,
Noisy, excited chit, chit chattering,
Birds squawking,
Kids shouting, singing, hut 2-3ing,
Busy teachers watching, calling, chatting to the Grade 2s.
We see
Big, yellow construction trucks,
Wet, green leaves,
Gray and white pigeons waddling over the damp grass,
Happy children stomping in a line like ants,
Students walking, running, skipping,galloping, cantering
All around the park.
The smell of wet green grass fills the air
And the leaves crunch minty below our feet.
We feel
The wobbly stones scatter beneath our shoes,
Cool breeze all around,
Wet and damp like the ocean,
And the warmth of the children huddled in groups,
With tired legs trying to keep up.
We feel happy and at peace.
