Principal's Report

Thoughts from our Principal - Ms Maria Mowle

WELCOME BACK

I would like to offer you a warm welcome back to the 2021 New School Year. As we begin the new year it is good to remind ourselves that we have so many blessings to be thankful for!! Let’s start the year with positivity and pleasure in looking forward to the year ahead. No doubt there will be challenges again, especially given the COVID-19 situation has not yet resolved, but life brings change and challenge. Challenges can be seen as opportunities waiting to be discovered, opportunities for students to strive for their personal best. As we begin the year ready to start afresh with both old friendships and be introduced to new ones, we pray the prayer below.

A STUDENT'S PRAYER FOR A NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year.

Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me.

Open my eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings.

Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers.

Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and courage to accept new opportunities.

Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends. Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year!  Amen

CONGRATULATIONS

It is with great pleasure that I again welcome the new staff to the school. Congratulations to Mr Rickie Withers on his appointment as Acting Assistant Principal of St Joseph’s school. We welcome Mr Withers to his new position and know that he will continue to apply the same commitment and dedication to this new role as he did to his Religious Education Role. Recruitment has begun for a Religious Education Coordinator. I also wish to acknowledge again the  new staff who join us this year: Mrs Frances Pareson, Ms Katie McMeniman and Mrs Jackie Barratt.

SCHOOL LEADERS

The school began its formal process for the election of its leaders on Monday. Watch this space for the exciting announcements.

COVID-19

I recently sent all parents the latest update on the COVID-19 restrictions, via the Compass app and email. As we look around the world, and experience our lockdowns over the holiday period, it is clear that it is not over. At this time we pray again the PRAYER IN TIME OF A PANDEMIC, praying for those less fortunate than us, and thanking God for the people who are helping us in this time of great need.

ALMIGHTY AND ETERNAL GOD, our refuge in every danger, to whom we turn in our distress; in faith we pray look with compassion on the afflicted, grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners, healing to the sick, peace to the dying, strength to healthcare workers, wisdom to our leaders and the courage to reach out to all in love so that together we may give glory to your holy name. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, you Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever Amen.

Mary, Help of Christians - pray for us.

St. Mary of the Cross - pray for us.
